Daisuke Bundo is one of the leading visual anthropologists in Japan,
or more specifically, the provocative audio-visual poet who broadens the
horizons of anthropological filmmaking. Since 1996, he has been working on
the anthropological research on the Baka pygmies in the tropical rain forest in
Cameroon particularly focusing on harmonious coexistence of nature and humans.
With their unique montages and imaginative narratives, his films have
been exploring the multi-sensory aspect of “being in the forest with Baka people” audio-visually.
He has produced several documentary films that have been shown in
internationally-acclaimed film and art festivals such as Cinéma du réel, Goettingen ethnographic film festival,
Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions.
