William Klein + Daido Moriyama
Tate Modern
Until 20 January

’Visitors are invited to explore the gritty world of urban street photography in both New York and Tokyo, providing “dazzling snapshots of the view from the streets” (Evening Standard).

Displaying pieces dating from the 1950’s to the present day, this is the first major exhibition to look at the relationship between the work of influential photographer and filmmaker Klein, and that of Moriyama, the most celebrated photographer to emerge from the Japanese Provoke movement of the 1960's.’

Schwitters in Britain
 Tate Britain
30 January – 12 May 2013      'These are the things we are fighting for'

’Described as the ‘supreme master of collage’, Schwitters was a pivotal figure in the 1920’s German avant-garde, who came to Britain to escape Nazi persecution in 1940.
This exhibition features prime examples of his 'Merz' approach to collage - where any material could be imbued with artistic potential, including fragments of found images, print, text and discarded objects.’

Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian Avant-Garde
 Tate Britain
 Until 13 January

’Combining rebellion, beauty, scientific precision and imaginative grandeur, the Pre-Raphaelites constitute Britain’s first modern art movement. This exhibition brings together over 150 works in different media, including painting, sculpture, photography and the applied arts, revealing the Pre-Raphaelites to be advanced in their approach to every genre. Led by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) rebelled against the art establishment of the mid-nineteenth century, taking inspiration from early Renaissance painting.’
